La Coruna
La Coruna is a busy and attractive city at the very tip of Galicia. It is a perfect place for enjoying a gentle stroll around the streets and avenues where it is possible to discover Roman architecture as well as more modern innovative buildings. The atmosphere in the many magnificent town squares is excellent and full of the joy of life on a hot summer’s day. Outside the town centre, the beaches, the marina, the fishing port and the commercial port still play a very important role for the people of La Coruna.
The City
The first impression of the provincial capital of Galicia is big, bright, modern and spacious all at the same time. La Coruna is home to many magnificent squares, a fantastic medieval quarter and an amazing array of different architectural styles. The medieval quarter contains most of the historical monuments built before the 19th century together with many buildings dating to the Modernist period. In order to explore the laid back Galician lifestyle you need to take a stroll down the new and very attractive promenade, which gives you plenty of opportunity for sightseeing and a also gives you a chance to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere which exists throughout town. The fascinating waterfront is always buzzing with life and excitement, as it still plays a very important role in the city’s everyday life. It is home for fishing boats as well as cruise liners and yachts. The city is also well known for its excellent gastronomy which emphasizes the quality of raw materials over culinary technique. Therefore, gastronomy, architecture, waterfront and monuments all together makes La Coruna a real pleasure for your senses. Read more about La Coruna:
