Halmstad
Like a big city in a more convenient format! Halmstad’s rhythm pulsates all year round. The summer town with fresh, salt-water swimming, hectic entertainment in Tylösand, concerts at Brottet, exciting activities for all the family, several golf courses and a rich cultural life all year round. Add to that our rich food tradition with salmon at centre-stage. A real smörgåsbord for both body and soul!
The City
That Halmstad is “the city of three hearts” is well known for a Swede. The three hearts is visible on the city’s coat of arms and has there fore become a natural symbol. The former Danish city Halmstad got its first city rights in 1307 and became Swedish in 1645. Since then the city has been developing strongly in several different areas.
Summer and Halmstad are intimately related. A ribbon of salty beaches, from the eastern parts of the city to Tylösand, has made Halmstad to all of Sweden’s bath tub. Add to that the music flowing from the city centre; from the Brottet; from Tylösand and from all the local bars and clubs.
If golf is your passion a visit to Halmstad is a must. If you’d rather enjoy a picnic there are many places to choose between. Why not a relaxing walk along the Prins Bertil foot path, starting at Halmstad Castle and ending in Tylösand? Nature is just around the corner and it is easy to move around on for example a bike as the city’s net of bicycle lanes is extensive.
Halmstad has a wide range of cultural events and there is always something interesting to do. Museums and all kinds of exhibitions as well as the historic city centre itself. Why not go for an evening walk along the picturesque Vallgatan?
In Halmstad nothing is too far away and there is always something happening! Read more about Halmstad:
