Marmaris - Essential Information
Airport
The Dalaman airport lies about 90 km east of Marmaris. The airport buses only run to coincide with flights, and cost 25 YTL. Be ready: the journey may take around 2 hours. Taxis are expensive, while the local bus stops a couple of kilometres from the airport.
Public transport
The simplest and cheapest way to get about is to take a dolmus, minibuses or large taxis, which depart when they are full and stop where you want. From the Otogar bus station, buses set off for other places in Turkey. It is a good idea to book a seat in advance. Many bus companies run services along the same routes. Reckon on the ticket costing about 4 euro per 100 km. A bus from Marmaris to Istanbul costs about €40.
Taxis
Taxis are yellow and have taxi signs on the roof. They have taximeters with two different rates, so from the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. it will cost up to 50 percent more than during daytime.
Post
Turkish post offices can be recognised by the PTT symbol. The main Post Office is called in Turkish Merkez Postanesi.
