Friedrichshafen - Do & See
Friedrichshafen is located beautifully on the northerly banks of Lake Constance which offer unlimited possibilities. Why not walk along the lake and enjoy the amazing view of the Austrian and Swiss Alps or climb up on the lookout tower to get a view over the landscape. The town also offers interesting museums like The Zeppelin Museum where you can learn more about the history of the flying machines. The Zeppelin Museum
A must-see for all aviation fans, the Zeppelin museum boasts the world’s largest selection of airships, including full-scale reconstruction of parts of the famous Hindenburg Zeppelin.
Zeppelin Well, Monument
Friedrichhafen’s Zeppelin Well was specially rebuilt in 2000 based on the original model of 1909, which had been destroyed in the Second World War. Close by lies the Zeppelin Monument, which commemorates Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin.
The Castle Church Of Friedrichshafen
The 55-metre high castle, made out of sandstone, is the town’s landmark. Built between 1695-1701, it is one of the best-known baroque-style buildings in the region. Call in advance to book a guided tour.
The Castle Of Friedrichshafen
Originally built in 1654 as a monastery for the Benedictines of Weingarten, the castle today serves as the residence of Friedrich, Duke of Wuerttemberg.
Lake Constance Trail (bodenseepfad)
Walk along the Lake Constance trail to admire the magnificent animal and plant-life of this region. The nature conservation centre (Naturschutzzentrum) of nearby town Eriskirch organises exhibitions and free tours.
Lakeside Promenade
One of Lake Constance’s longest lake side promenades, an ideal opporunity to get some fresh air and to relax after a tough day of sight-seeing. Enjoy the excellent view of the Austrian and Swiss Alps.
Schulmuseum Friedrichshafen
This museum offers an insight into the development of German education, from the convent schools in the 800s to the those of the present day.
Lookout Tower
Climb up the stairs of this 22-metre high steel tower for a beautiful view of Lake Constance, the Alps and Friedrichshafen. Based at the city harbour.
